My name is Benjamin Fitts and I've been networking for over ten years now. The first year I had no idea what the heck I was doing and I wasn't mature enough to truly go out and work the business. I didn't have a mentor. It was just me and a college buddy.  Neither of us knew what we were doing and we wanted to "get rich quick". When my renewal came up I decided not to continue with the business.

Several years later I decided to try networking again. I had been laid off from my dream job. I poured every bit of energy into that job. I'm ashamed to say it but my marriage even suffered for it. I figured it would be ok because I was sacrificing everything to "get ahead". It was the dot.com boom and I was one of the lead programmers. I had stock options and if the company went public I stood to make a real nice payday, maybe even get rich. I figured it would only take a few years and then I'd be able to focus on my family again, find a job I liked instead of one that I "had" to work, and most importantly spend more time with my wife!

So after working up to 100 hours a week (literally sleeping on the floor at work) I was laid off. You see I wasn't laid off because I was a bad employee. If anything I was the model employee. I was laid off as a "business decision". The dot.com bubble had burst and the company's investors wanted to relocate the office where they could pay people 1/2 as much to do the same job.

That was the low point. I'd damaged my marriage with all my work, and yet I had nothing to show for it. I didn't have a job and the technology market had suddenly gotten a lot worse. So I was MOTIVATED to get out and make it work. That is where flyers came in. My first attempt at flyers yielded my first rep (who promptly went out and gathered 16 customers [i only had 13 myself!]) I would never have thought of doing flyers 6 years earlier when I had first been introduced to network marketing. I was too scared of what other people thought of me. Now I only cared of what my family thought and I knew I couldn't go back to working 80-100 hour weeks!

That is how I TRULY got started. Know what I mean? I mean some of us try it. We find a company and signup but don't really do anything. We're kind of looking for an easy way to make a lot of money. Right? I mean honestly, isn't that what most of us are looking for? What I learned was that if you know nothing but you are truly motivated you can make it happen! If you are persistent you'll work hard and overcome those failures. You'll learn from them and grow as a result of them. Then you can't be stopped! Whatever you do you'll be better at! You can use the skills and knowledge you gain from your business in ANYTHING you do.

There is so much I have learned as a result of my business. I've met so many wonderful people.  I appreciate every single one of you! I thank you so much for sharing with me and telling me more about yourself.
